On Thursday 4th May, the Conservatives gained Torbay Council and elected Cllr Dave Thomas as Leader of the Council.
On a difficult day for the Conservatives nationally, the Torbay Council candidates and the two Associations supporting them, managed to ‘buck the trend’.
Gaining four seats, taking the total to 19 from a possible 36, and winning a majority for the first time since 2015.
Of the 36 seats available, the Totnes Conservative Association put up ten candidates and all ten of those candidates were elected.

The five wards of Furzeham with Summercombe, St Peter's with St Mary's, Churston with Galmpton, Collaton St Mary, and Kings Ash, represent almost half of the Totnes (soon to be South Devon) constituency.
Working closely with the Torbay Association, the Member of Parliament for Torbay, Kevin Foster, and the Torbay Conservative Council Group, along with putting in a huge amount of hard work, is what led us to success.
